Coop Smoking Policy
City ordinance bans smoking in the common areas of residential buildings. In compliance with these regulations, and to accommodate both smokers and non-smokers amicably:
Smoking is permitted in individual units. However, smokers are ultimately responsible for ensuring that fumes and second-hand-smoke do not infringe on their neighbors’ quality of life.
In accord with New York City regulations, smoking (any substance) is not allowed in any public area of the building, including (but not limited to) the lobby, vestibule, stairs, landings, basement, exterior courtyard, and roof.
Residents and guests may smoke on the sidewalk outside the building, but not within 20 feet of any air intakes or apartment windows. Please be mindful of our first and second floor neighbors.
Residents are responsible for ensuring that guests and visitors abide by the building’s smoking rules.
Please take care not to leave cigarette butts at the building’s entrance, and not to toss them out windows into the rear courtyard.
